Yalda joined our team in 2023 as Senior Research Scientist after earning her PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Toronto. This was followed by several post-doctoral and industrial positions. Along the way she developed extensive knowledge and expertise particularly in pharmaceutical UPLC/MS, GC/MS, and NMR analytical techniques as well as an in-depth knowledge of scientific workflows in biopharma and other analytical environments.
During her more than two years at InVision, Yalda has honed her UPLC/MS and GC/MS skills in the analysis of aqueous and organic extracts/leachates of biomedical device materials such as silicones, poly(acrylates/methacrylates), and urethanes. This expertise extends to HRMS accurate mass and NIST MS library identification and quantitation of extracted compounds. Often the detected residual compounds can be obtained commercially and therefore allow direct quantitation. However, there are instances where Yalda, in consultation with others at InVision, will propose, acquire, and quantitate a suitable surrogate compound that is a reasonable chemical mimic of the detected residual.
Yalda has proved adept at managing an intense analytical workload on a myriad of samples ranging from extract and leachates to aqueous supernatants collected from hydrolytic, photolytic, and shelf storage stability studies.
